UALR's Guy's effort good even if shots weren't falling

BURN THE HORSE

I’ll admit it. I thought UALR’s Chuck Guy played a pretty solid game against Denver on Saturday. Then I got home and looked at the statistics. He had 0 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in 30 minutes. Did my eyes deceive me?

Guy seems to be a player who can make things happen. He also a guy who can, at times, try too hard to make things happen. The latter wasn’t the case for Guy on Saturday. He didn’t force shots. He wasn’t out of control. And he got to the free throw line (though he didn’t make them). That’s the player UALR seems to need Guy to be.

Free throws are becoming a concern for him because he’s been so solid his entire career. After missing just 10 in UALR’s first 18 games, Guy has missed nine in the past five games.  His season percentage has dipped to 70 percent after shooting 31 percent during this stretch.

You couldn't question Guy's effort on Saturday. If that continues, you have to think the shots are going to start falling.
