Web site ranks UALR as third choice for Sun Belt Tournament

Our new favorite Web site Omni Rankings does something we really like a lot with their projections. They’ve projected the entire Sun Belt Conference Tournament bracket.

So where does UALR stack up?

The Trojans are the third choice to win the championship behind landslide favorite Middle Tennessee and Denver. Omni Rankings projects UALR to finish 11-5 in the conference, losing at home to Denver. They have UALR as the No. 3 seed in the tournament and give the Trojans a 58 percent chance to reach the semifinals, a 21 percent chance to reach the finals and a 6 percent chance of winning it all.

Middle Tennessee is the favorite at 47 percent, followed by Denver at 27 percent.

Omni Rankings projects the five men’s byes to go to Middle Tennessee, Denver, UALR, Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida Atlantic.

Their first round matchups are:

• Arkansas State vs. Florida International (winner gets Middle Tennessee)
• North Texas vs. Troy (winner gets Denver)
• South Alabama vs. Western Kentucky (winner gets UALR)
• Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida Atlantic would meet in the second round after both receive a bye.

Will it end up this way? No chance.
