UALR Rewind: Trojans pass despite Kentucky victory

BURN THE HORSE

UALR has matched up with Coach Cal four times in the past 10 years or so. And Ted Valentine has been the referee in at least two of them. That didn't matter. It's just a random thought while putting together tonight’s UALR Rewind.

Another random thought: UALR played Kentucky a hell of a lot closer than Oklahoma played Missouri tonight.

Back to the rewind. There were no keys for victory for this game. Instead, it was more like goals for the night.

BTH Keys (Goals)
1. Someone else. With Will Neighbour out of the lineup, it was a prime opportunity for someone else to step into a scoring role. Sophomore Chuck Guy more than filled it with 19 points. We also saw some good minutes from freshman Michael Javes. Grade: A-

2. Beat it. UALR definitely beat the 27-point spread, leading for the game’s first 24 minutes. It got iffy late in the second half before a couple of buckets by D’Andre Williams. Grade: A-

Stat of the game
Halftime score: UALR 30, Kentucky 27.

Always negative
Kentucky outrebounded UALR 50-23, a number that’s going to kill UALR’s season rebound margin.

Keep it positive
UALR had just nine turnovers while forcing Kentucky into 19.

Player of the game
Sophomore Chuck Guy had 19 points and 4 steals. He made 6 of 13 field goals and appeared to find his three-point stroke by making 4 of 7.
