UALR Rewind: Trojans get passing marks in victory over North Texas

BURN THE HORSE
Revisiting Thursday's BTH Keys to Victory.  The Trojans get more than passing grades, they aced their first Sun Belt Conference test.

Board it: UALR outrebounded North Texas 37-32 and had 10 offensive rebounds to North Texas’ 9. Gold Star to Will Neighbour with 11 boards on the night. Grade: A.

Solid start: It wasn’t pretty, but UALR did what it had to early. The Trojans led most of the first half and 23-19 at halftime. North Texas is now 1-6 when trailing at the half. Grade: A.

Take care: UALR actually had four more turnovers than North Texas, but the Trojans only had 13. There was one struggling stretch in the second half, but for the most part the Trojans did a good job. Grade: B+.

Someone else: Chuck Guy did a nice job with 12 points, but the real someone else gives UALR a grade of F. That’s F for Fondren, as in Reggie Fondren. Fondren hit two clutch three-pointers in the closing minutes. Grade: A.

Stat of the night
UALR goes 9 of 18 from three-point range. The Trojans are now above 30 percent from the three-point line on the season.

Always negative
North Texas shot 60.6 percent in the second half. That's a trend that has to stop.

Keep it positive
UALR made more free throws (20) than North Texas attempted (17).
