RPI not the only factor when setting up UALR's first round game in NCAA Tournament

BURN THE HORSE
The assumption right now is that UALR will be one of the four lowest seeds in the NCAA Tournament and will play in one of the First Four games in Dayton, Ohio, on Tuesday or Wednesday. But the reality is that we just don't know what the NCAA Men's Basketball Committee is thinking.
If you go just by RPI, UALR is likely headed to Dayton. Four victories in four days at the Sun Belt Tournament improved the Trojans' RPI to about 189, but it's still among the bottom four of expected NCAA teams right now.
Keep in mind though that the NCAA doesn't just use RPI. In 2006, Missouri State got left out of the tournament with a 21 RPI. Oklahoma (1993), Hofstra (2006) and Air Force (2007) also got left out.
And there's too sides of it. If you play in the First Four games, you have a better chance (but no guarantee) of winning in the first round. If you don't play in the First Four games, you guarantee yourself a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament (that's how it's worded).
   We'll find out on Sunday.
