Former UALR assistant coach, now a head coach, denies UCA NCAA berth

BURN THE HORSE
A former UALR assistant coach has all but guaranteed the Trojans men and women will be Arkansas' only NCAA teams this year.
Brooks Donald Williams, an assistant at UALR from 2000 to 2003 is the head coach at McNeese State and led the Cowgirls to a victory over Central Arkansas in the Southland Conference championship game on Friday. UCA was seeking its first NCAA Tournament appearance.

The UALR men and women both won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to gain automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament.
Both UAPB, UCA, Arkansas State and Arkansas-Fayetteville teams have already lost in their conference tournaments. The only one of those eight that will even get on the board for possible NCAA selection is the UAF women, who are 18-11 and sitting at 65 in the RPI. But those numbers are likely not good enough.
Donald Williams was on the staff at UALR with head coach Tracy Stewart-Lange when the Trojans re-started the women's basketball program.
