UALR down, but not out of Sun Belt race

Only one week into the Sun Belt Conference season and UALR finds itself two games behind three teams in the West Division standings.
North Texas, Arkansas State and Denver all went 2-0 last week while the Trojans fell to 0-2 with losses at North Texas and Denver. But it's not quite time to panic just yet. North Texas, Arkansas State and Denver picked up those six victories while playing at home. UALR has yet to play a home game.
Arkansas State's victories were big because they came against teams from the East Division (South Alabama and Western Kentucky). The only team off to a better Sun Belt start is Florida Atlantic, which is 2-0 after winning road games at Troy and Louisiana-Monroe.
The next two weeks are crucial for UALR. Wednesday's nonconference game against St. Bonaventure won't help in the Sun Belt standings, but it could serve as a bit of confidence as a huge three-game stretch approaches. A victory could give even more confidence considering the Trojans 77-64 loss at St. Bonaventure in November.
After that, UALR plays three "really need to win" games. (We hate must-win in the second week of conference play). UALR has home games against Troy, Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette. It's UALR's only three-game Sun Belt home stand of the season.
Anything other than 3-0 in those three games would put UALR in dire straits for a high seed in the Sun Belt Tournament.
UALR has been on the road for the past six games and played a tough nonconference schedule so far. Winning home games is an absolute must if they are to contend.
