A look at where things stand in the Sun Belt: UALR drops from second to fourth

UALR's loss to South Alabama dropped them from second to fourth overall in seeding for the Sun Belt Tournament next month in Hot Springs.

UALR was in the No. 2 position last week as the West Division leader. But Saturday's loss coupled with Arkansas State's victory over North Texas allowed UALR and ASU to swap places. Both are tied with an 8-5 conference record. They are also tied in the next tiebreaker with a .750 winning percentage in West Division games. But ASU wins the third tiebreaker with its victory over Middle Tennessee earlier this season.

There are seven conference games remaining, including two between Arkansas State and UALR.

Here's a look at where things stand if the season ended today. The top five receive a first-round bye:


UALR returns to action on Thursday at Louisiana-Monroe. It's a game the Trojans can't afford to lose.
 
Arkansas State goes to Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. ASU needs a split or they'll give back the ground they gained last week. FIU gets rival FAU and travels to North Texas this week And Florida Atlantic also has to travel to South Alabama.
