Lockhart's scoring numbers down, but probably won't be for long

We like UALR sophomore Taggart Lockhart because he plays hard and isn’t afraid to stand in there and take a charge. He can also score a little bit when needed. That’s why his past four games have been perplexing to watch.

In UALR’s last four games, Lockhart has scored just 4 points in 60 minutes of game action. That included going scoreless against North Texas and Middle Tennessee and scoring two points apiece against Western Kentucky and Florida Atlantic. He’s averaged just 0.07 points per minute played during those games.

That’s way off of his season and career numbers at UALR. Lockhart averages 0.24 points per minute played for his career. He was averaging 0.27 points per minute through the first 19 games this season.

He also didn’t make a field goal in those four games, scoring all four of his points at the free throw line. He averages 1.5 made field goals per game for his career.

Those numbers don’t make Lockhart a big scorer. But he does have a 14-point game, an 11-point game, two 10-point games and four 9-point games this season.

Lockhart has also been in the top five for UALR in the plus/minus 10 times this season. That ties him for sixth on the team and proves his value.

We expect the points will come soon enough. His career numbers tell us they will.
