Brady says UALR was 'fortunate'; ASU 'unfortunate'

BURN THE HORSE
After UALR's 63-62 victory against Arkansas State in Jonesboro, ASU Coach John Brady said UALR was "fortunate."

"They've been fortunate a little bit. Not that they didn't deserve it. But we've been unfortunate in three that we haven't been able to win."

Uh, yeah, I guess so. ASU was "unfortunate" when Edward Townsell missed a free throw that would have tied the game in the final seconds. But ASU was also "fortunate" that UALR freshman Taggart Lockhart missed a free throw at the other end. That would have put the Trojans up three points.

It's all about how you look at it. When ASU won a game with a 35-foot heave at the buzzer against North Texas they didn't seem so "unfortunate." They also didn't seem so "unfortunate" when they hit a last second-shot to beat Louisiana-Monroe.

UALR was "unfortunate" to have starting point guard D'Andre Williams limited to 22 minutes on Saturday. And its "unfortunate" that Will Neighbour is still limited by injury. And its "unfortunate" that Gus Leeper couldn't play this year. The bottom line is that teams make their own breaks. UALR wasn't making them early in the season and is making them now.

One spot ASU was "fortunate" was that Trey Finn was able play. We won't have to hear that excuse this time around.
