Freshman Lockhart gets back to even for season in UALR loss

Sunday’s overtime loss to SMU really was a team loss. No player finished better than +3 in the BTH plus/minus ratings. No player also finished below -6 on the day.

Freshman Taggart Lockhart earned his first start of his collegiate career and turned in the best mark of the day. UALR outscored SMU 33-30 in Lockhart’s minutes to make him a +3 for the game. That also boosted Lockhart to Even Steven for the season in his 89 minutes of action.

It should be noted that all five starters were either even or on the plus side during regulation on Sunday. Overtime dragged the other four into the minus side of things. Here’s the scores for the other four starters:

• Courtney Jackson 61-63 (-2)
• Will Neighbour 55-58 (-3)
• Ben Dillard 50-53 (-3)
• D’Andre Williams 67-67 (-6)

As you can see, offensive production goes down a bit with Lockhart on the court. But defense definitely picks up the slack during those minutes.
