After three losses, Shields' UALR Trojans back on track in rematch games

Hot Springs

Going into this season, UALR Coach Steve Shields’ teams had been really good in blowout revenge games. Under Shields, the Trojans were 10-1 in the rematch game against a team that had beaten them by 10 or more points in the first meeting.

Then UALR lost to Louisiana Tech at home. And UALR lost to South Alabama at home. And they lost to Middle Tennessee at home. And just like that, the Trojans were 10-4 in such situations.

UALR got back on track this week with its victory over Arkansas State (ULL would have been another except the first game was only decided by nine points). UALR lost the first meeting of the season with Arkansas State 86-62. UALR responded by winning 78-71 in the rematch.

The Trojans will get another chance on Saturday when they meet Florida International at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Tournament in Hot Springs. FIU defeated UALR 65-52 in the last meeting between the teams Feb. 21 in Miami.
