Injuries piling up for UALR, North Texas going into Thursday's game

Injury updates for Thursday's UALR-North Texas game.

UALR Coach Steve Shields said on his television show that freshman point guard John Gillon's injury is meniscus related. Gillon was injured after a collision at midcourt during last week's game against Western Kentucky. At today's coaches' luncheon, Shields said Gillon could return next week.

That likely puts him out of this week's games against North Texas and Florida International.

Ben Dillard was also injured in the Western Kentucky game but was able to play at Troy and should be available this week.

North Texas is battling injuries of its own. The Denton Record Chronicle reported this week that North Texas could be without Clarke Overlander and Jacob Holmen for Thursday's game. Overlander was injured in practice and may have a torn meniscus. Holmen has plantar fasciitis.

North Texas is already without guards Chris Jones (broken foot) and Brandan Walton (broken foot) and T.J. Taylor, who was not granted eligibility after transferring from Marquette.
