UALR will have to key on St. Gregory's Fayzon Richey

BURN THE HORSE

UALR players will surely see his name on the scouting report. There should be no one forgetting about St. Gregory’s Fayzon Richey.

Richey is a 6-3 senior guard for the Cavaliers who averages 24.3 points and 8.8 rebounds. He’s involved one way or another nearly every possession of the game. And he’s a guy opponents have to key on as soon as he crosses half court.

Take Saturday night’s game for instance. He attempted 17 three-pointers. Yes, 17. He also attempted 26 shots for the game as he finished with 26 points.

Richey takes 27 percent of St. Gregory’s field-goal attempts and 57 percent of their three-pointers. But that’s not even all of his offense. He also gets to the free throw line – a lot. He’s taken 33 percent of the Cavaliers’ free throw attempts this season.

He shoots 51 percent from two-point range, 40 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free throw line.

No current UALR player was on the team the last time St. Gregory’s visited the Jack Stephens Center. Richey played in that game as a freshman and finished with 25 points against a John Fowler-led defensive unit. He was only 5 of 18 from the field and 2 of 8 from three-point range but he made 13 of 13 field goals.
