52            70

UALR’s inexperience showed from the start in a blowout 70-52 loss to Louisiana Tech on Wednesday at the Thomas Assembly Center.
UALR (1-1) loses its first road game of the season as they head to Ole Miss on Friday.

"We knew we were going to face good pressure tonight and had to limit our turnovers. ... We got beat on 50/50 plays and those are the effort plays you can't get beat on," UALR Coach Steve Shields said.
Other than an offensive rebound that led to a free throw and a 1-0 lead on the game’s first possession, there weren’t many highlights. Louisiana Tech rolled to a 21-6 lead before the Trojans got anything going. UALR did cut the lead back to 8 points late in the first half but went down 32-20 at halftime.
UALR never got closer than 9 points in the second half as Louisiana Tech rolled to victory.
UALR's defense wasn't bad. The Bulldogs were held to 36 percent from the field and the Trojans held a 43-38 rebound advantage. But with UALR unable to score, Louisiana Tech didn't have to do much to pull away.
After things went so smoothly for freshman John Gillon last Friday (22 points most ever in a UALR freshman debut) he couldn’t get going on Wednesday. He finished with 7 points, but 5 of that 7 came in the final minute of garbage time.
UALR made 17 of 56 field goals (30.4 percent), had 19 turnovers and were outscored 24-3 in points off turnovers.
Ben Dillard led UALR with 11 points, while Taggart Lockhart had 10. Will Neighbour finished with 6 points.
