Troy plays, UALR rests as teams prepare for Sun Belt opener on Thursday

When the UALR schedule was released in the summer, two things stood out to me immediately.

The first was that Sun Belt Conference play was beginning on Thursday, Nov. 29, at home against Troy. The second was that UALR was going to be making a long trip back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on the Monday before that.

I figured Troy would be able to get some rest in before Thursday's game. Then I checked out Troy's schedule. They played Sunday afternoon. And they play again tonight, hosting Alabama-Birmingham at the brand new Trojan Arena. Click here to read about it.

I'm sure there was a scheduling quirk that required Troy to play this game the Tuesday before their Thursday Sun Belt Conference opener. Just like UALR did last week, Troy will play four games in seven days. Unlike UALR, the last two of those games are Sun Belt Conference games.

Troy (4-2) has played well this season with a victory over Mississippi State at Trojan Arena.

UALR (4-3) arrived back in Little Rock late Monday night.
