UALR turned in its most complete performance of the season on Thursday in a dominating 75-50 victory over South Alabama at the Jack Stephens Center.

The victory keeps UALR (9-13, 6-2 Sun Belt) top the West Division standings halfway through conference play. It also sets up a showdown with Denver on Saturday with the winner holding sole possession of first place.

D’Andre Williams had a game-high 14 points for UALR. Courtney Jackson added 12 and Will Neighbour 10 as the Trojans started a bigger lineup with Neighbour, Jackson and Michael Javes.

Other than a quick 2-0 lead, South Alabama never led as the Trojans shot 48 percent from the field and 46 percent from three-point range. The lead grew to as many as 29 points in the second half with all five starters, including Chuck Guy, hitting at least one three-pointer.

Williams and Jackson went 2 for 2, Neighbour 2 for 6, Guy 3 for 7 and Javes 1 for 2. Javes also had eight rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

South Alabama entered the game winless at home but 2-1 in Sun Belt road games. The Jags were led by Augustine Rubit’s 22 points and 7 rebounds but were never really in the game.
