BTH Rewind: UALR doesn't make grades in loss to ORU

BURN THE HORSE
It’s funny how one 75-foot miracle can change your perspective of things. Had it missed, had UALR gone on to win in overtime it would be easy to look at this differently. As it is, it’s another low-grade performance on BTH Keys to Victory.

1. Rebounding. UALR got outrebounded 38-34 by an ORU team that was outrebounding its opponents by six per game. But UALR faltered in rebounding in the second half and the Trojans were outscored 12-5 in second-chance points. And out of 30 missed shots by ORU, the Golden Eagles got another chance 14 times. Grade: D

2. Someone else: D’Andre Williams had 22 points and Chuck Guy 13. That helped offset Will Neighbour’s foul trouble that led to only six points in 21 minutes. But Taggart Lockhart, Courtney Jackson and Ben Dillard, three starters, combined for only 8 points. That’s not enough. Grade: C+.

3. Reserve clause: UALR needed bigger minutes out of Michael Javes. He did play 13 minutes and had 5 rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot. But Haves didn’t score and missed two free throws. And UALR’s other post option, Marlon Louzeiro, had 2 points and 0 rebounds in 10 minutes. Grade: C-
