UALR walk-on heads to Kansas to play football

BURN THE HORSE
Neal Barlow's status as a UALR basketball walk-on is over before it ever really got started.
Barlow, who didn't survive spring conditioning at UALR, is now headed to Kansas to play football. Barlow, a football recruit, originally committed to Kansas out of high school before switching to Arkansas-Fayetteville. He injured his foot there and eventually left school.
He enrolled at UALR last year. We heard last December he would attempt to walk on in basketball (he was also a good basketball player in high school). But he wasn't in basketball shape at that time and didn't practice with the Trojans, who ended up advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
He was still around on June 23 (that's the last time BTH checked on him). And he wasn't around when players reported in early July.
It appears Barlow participated in spring conditioning at UALR, but did not make it to the summer. This week he turned up at Kansas. Here's a story:

Barlow wasn't on scholarship at UALR. It was thought that Barlow might provide some practice competition at the 3 position for UALR.  His dad is a former North Carolina teammate of Michael Jordan.
UALR still has plenty of scholarship options at the 3. Senior Tramar Sutherland played there last season and freshman Taggart Lockhart is expected to see time there this season. UALR also has shooting guards it can slide into that spot if they choose to play small, or the Trojans can go bigger there by moving a forward to exploit matchups.
