UALR loses Joe Golding to Abilene Christian

BURN THE HORSE
We're extremely happy for Joe Golding, but a little disappointed for UALR.
Golding left UALR on Monday after accepting the head coaching position at NCAA Division II Abilene Christian.
It was the second time in the past couple of months Abilene Christian had tried to hire Golding. This time he couldn't say no to his alma mater.
Golding was the recruiting coordinator for UALR and handled most of the recruiting in places like Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. No doubt whoever replaces Golding will have to have some ability to recruit Texas.
This might even turn out to be a bigger opportunity for Golding. It has been rumored for a long time that the Southland Conference has been courting Abilene Christian for a move up to Division I. To this point, Abilene Christian has denied those reports, but generally where there's smoke there's fire.
Congrats to Coach Golding. Read the story in the Abilene Reporter News. Make sure and make note of Golding's quotes about what UALR did to try to get him to stay.
