UALR cuts down the nets to win first Sun Belt championship

BURN THE HORSE
We were surprised last week when Arkansas State cut down the nets at the Convocation Center after beating UALR to clinch the Sun Belt Conference's West Division co-championship. After all, co-champ Louisiana-Lafayette didn't cut down their nets. Neither did East Division champ Florida Atlantic.
Perhaps ASU Coach John Brady was just putting on a show after beating UALR for the second consecutive time.
UALR's men and women have each won four division championships in recent years. Not once did they cut down the nets.
That's because cutting down the nets is reserved for winning the tournament. And UALR clinched its championship with a victory over North Texas in the Sun Belt Championship on Tuesday.
