Reed scores 22, Rolfe 18 as UALR advances with victory over South Alabama

   Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Chastity Reed scored 22 points as the UALR women advanced to the semifinals with a convincing 73-54 victory over South Alabama at Summit Arena.

   UALR will play Florida International on Monday afternoon in the second semifinal.
   Reed made 9 of 21 field goals and added 6 rebounds 8 assists and a steal. Point guard Asriel Rolfe had 18 points and 6 assists, while Marian Kursh had 10 points and 8 rebounds.
   UALR players all wore blue socks to pay tribute to Middle Tennessee's Tina Stewart, who was murdered earlier in the week.

    UALR shot 57 percent from the field and led almost start to finish. The Lady Jaguars, who were led by Christian Shelter’s 18 points, shot just 35 percent from the field. Little Rock’s Siedah Banks had 9 points for USA.
   UALR used only seven players with starters Reed, Rolfe, Kursh, Shanika Butler and Taylor Ford all tallying more than 30 minutes. Britteni Williams, who had six consecutive first-half points during a key stretch, and Janette Merriex were the only other Trojans to see action.
   UALR has advanced to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals for the fourth consecutive year. They were knocked out by Middle Tennessee in the semifinals three years ago. UALR lost to Middle Tennessee in the championship game each of the past two years.
