UALR women lose to Western Kentucky; streaks end

BURN THE HORSE
Stats are not updating, so details will have to wait. But the UALR women go down to Western Kentucky tonight at the Jack Stephens Center.
UALR's Chastity Reed missed two shots in the final seconds for the Trojans.
The loss snaps UALR's 14-game winning streak. It also snaps a streak of 28 consecutive regular season Sun Belt Conference victories and 16 consecutive games played in February.
More importantly, at least in the likely eyes of the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee, the loss snaps UALR's 22-game winning streak at the Stephens Center.
This will go down as a bad loss. WKU hadn't won a road game since early January and the Lady Toppers were playing without their leading scorer, Janae Howard, who quit the team on Monday.
However, in terms of the Sun Belt the game was largely meaningless. UALR has already clinched a tie for the Sun Belt's West Division Championship and the No. 1 seed from the division at next month's Sun Belt Tournament. Denver's imminent victory over Louisiana-Monroe tonight will keep UALR from clinching anything outright tonight.
