Jackson doesn't score, but plays solid minutes in UALR's victory over Troy

Scoring isn't always the most important statistic. Sometimes its intangibles that makes a player valuable in a game. One way to measure the net effect of a player in the game is the plus/minus. And Courtney Jackson proved that in Saturday's 76-73 victory over Troy.
Courtney Jackson runs down a loose
ball on Saturday vs. Troy. He
didn't score but he was a +10.
Jackson didn't score, but UALR was 10 points better than Troy in the minutes he played. Jackson's +10 rating is even more impressive when you consider that Jackson was subbing in and out with Matt Mouzy for defensive possessions in the final minutes. He was at +15 before that started.
UALR's best segment came as Mouzy hit two three-pointers in the second half. Chuck Guy, Mouzy D'Andre Williams, Jakson and Montrell Thornton were on the court. The worst segment came early in the second half with Guy, Solomon Bozeman, Alex Garcia-Mendoza, Mouzy and Derrick Bails on the court.
Rounding out the top five on Saturday were: Williams (+7), Mouzy (+7), Tramar Sutherland (+3) and Guy (+1).
Guy is now the season leader at +25, followed by Bozeman, Marlon Louzeiro, Sutherland and D'Andre Williams.
In the past five games, Mouzy leads with a +20. He's nearly dug himself out of a big early-season minus hole. The rest of the top five are: Jackson, Bails, Guy and Sutherland.
The only real surprise in the plus/minus ratings for the UALR women vs. Troy on Saturday was Shanika Butler's rating. Butler had another nice game and had 11 assists. But Butler was only a +20 for the game. That sounds like a great rating until you see the rest of the starting lineup. Asriel Rolfe was at +36, Janette Merriex at +35, Chastity Reed at +33 and Marian Kursh at +20.
Rolfe and Butler are now tied for the season lead at +95. Reed is at +71 and Merriex at +70.
In the past five games, Rolfe is tops at +91, followed by Reed, Butler, Merriex and Kursh.
Kursh has climbed out of a big hole and is now a plus for the season.
