In the frosh conversation

There's a long way to go in the season, but UALR freshman guard Chuck Guy is certainly in the conversation for freshman of the year in the Sun Belt Conference.
Guy is averaging 8.2 points. 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists for the first nine games of his college basketball career. He's shooting 47 percent from the field and leads the Sun Belt Conference at 60 percent beyond the arc. He has 26 assists and 16 turnovers.
Those numbers are impressive, but what's been more impressive is his composure. Guy was a scoring machine while playing high school basketball in Fort Worth, Texas.

And he might ultimately become that at UALR. But at this point, he's playing under control and taking advantage of his opportunities to get minutes. And that's going to earn him more minutes as the season goes on.
The other top freshmen in the Sun Belt Conference so far this season appear to be:
Dennis Mavin, Florida Atlantic 9p, 3r, 1a
Shawn Jones, Middle Tennessee 5p, 3.1r, 0.5a
Brandon Peters, Western Kentucky 5.3p, 2.8r, 1.9a
Louisiana-Monroe's Steven McClellan 5p, 4.7r, 0.5a
