The UALR women got back on track on Friday with a 59-55 victory over Louisiana Tech at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock.
Senior forward Chastity Reed scored 19 of her 21 points in the second half, including a late three-pointer, as the Trojans improved to 2-1 on the season. The game also marked the return of senior guard Shanika Butler, who scored a tough basket late in the game as the Trojans held off the Lady Techsters.
Reed didn't start and, despite making her first shot, struggled in the first half. She finished the half 1 of 7 from the field as the Trojans blew a 13-point lead to take a 29-28 lead into intermission.
The game was tied at 59-59 with 2:57 left as senior guard Asriel Rolfe grabbed and offensive rebound and passed outside to Reed, who didn't hesitate as she buried the three-pointer.
Then with UALR leading 54-53, Butler padded the advantage with a drive down the left side as she scored on a contested layup. It gave the Trojans a 56-53 lead with 41 seconds left. UALR then made enough free throws to hold on for the victory.
Butler played 23 minutes and finished with four points. Rolfe had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and just 2 turnovers.
